Futuristic Mars Explorer-Bug

This project involved designing and modelling a futuristic Mars Explorer-Bug in Autodesk 3ds Max. The vehicle was adapted to support the client’s narrative and visual direction, transforming the initial concept into a distinctive exploration machine suited to a Martian environment.

The modelling process focused on developing the vehicle’s overall form, mechanical structure, functional components and intricate surface details. Careful attention was given to proportion, visual balance and the relationship between individual parts to create a believable, purpose-built exploration vehicle.

Detailed texturing was applied to strengthen the model’s realism and science-fiction aesthetic. Materials, surface finishes and visual details were used to communicate how the vehicle might function and withstand the harsh conditions of Mars. The completed model demonstrates skills in creative interpretation, hard-surface modelling, detail development, texturing and narrative-led visual design.
